Are tankless water heaters more efficient than the tank type?
Typically yes. Tankless water heaters can save close to $200.00 a year in energy savings over conventional water heaters. These tankless heaters do this by heating only the water you need as opposed to heating a reserve tank of water all of the time for future use. Because of this design, you also gain the benfefit of having virtually an unlimited supply of hot water in your home.
Please keep in mind that not all tankless heaters are created equal and all variables need to be considered in choosing the proper unit for your home.
There are great Federal tax incentives as well as some local and State incentives to have these installed in your home. I know some of these incentives will change in 2011, so if you are considering one of these in your home or if your current water heater is more than 6-7 years of age you might want to consider calling us to schedule a consultation tailored to your needs.
